The Cave

The Cave

A Chapter by Jason

Solid is the flame of understanding

My roots are thick and my peddles mighty

Know that determination is what feeds me

Farther and farther into the shadows of doubt I will wonder

For a flicker of light is all I need to guide me

Fear not the whispers and laughing hyena

Ancient demons scale the walls beside me

The mist is thick and my bearings unsure but hope keeps me going

A hope of tomorrow

Deep is this cave of lost souls

As the end comes near I quicken my step

My eyes have adjusted and the mist is clearing

Forever is the flame of my understanding

I shall not falter once near

Never shall this cave carve my name into its self loathing walls

A light can be seen and the golden meadows of life lay before me

As I exit this ghostly cave I am found beautiful

Soar I will with the eagles and dance with the weeping willow

I will drink from the rivers new growth

Feast I shall on knowledge of this cave

I will teach the wide eyed wonderer who’s course is but undetermined

Now is my time for guidance and now is the flame of my understanding.

Love the "Forever is the flame of my understanding" line the most. Captivates me, also relate-able.

I honestly love this. Imagery is great, of the thick mist, the flame of understanding, and my favorite: the laughing hyena. I also like the repeated "flame of my understanding". I also like the happy ending, of course. Nice work. :)
