Heart Murmur

Heart Murmur

A Poem by Jay Levon

I listen to her heart murmur,
and pray she dies in her sleep.
With the insurance money
I could travel;
Moscow, London, Morocco,
or my beloved Mexico.
Where I can die
along the railroad tracks
and a chupacabra
can clean my bones,
or in a whorehouse
in Mexico City
where a black-eyed girl
can clean my pockets.

I listen to my heart murmur,
and pray I die in my sleep.
With the insurance money
she could travel.....

Absolutely beautiful. A story, a split decision, a lifetime lesson, a choice that begins and ends, an absolutely breathtaking poem.
