Time has Collapsed

Time has Collapsed

A Poem by Jay Levon

"Time has collapsed."
These words were written
in mathematical lipstick
on my bathroom mirror.
I found them this morning
after the alarm clock
woke me, and I stumbled in
to relieve myself.
Morning wood forced me
to stand on my head to pee.
When the job was complete,
and I went to wash up,
that is when I saw.
"Time has collapsed."
What does it mean?
Is it important?
Brushing my teeth
I studied the handwriting.
No real clues there.
With it's masculine lines
and feminine curls,
it was nearly androgynous.
Erasing it crossed my mind,
but I decided against it.
How did it get there?
Other than myself
no one had been
in the apartment for weeks.
I wanted to sort it out.
I needed to really think on it,
but the workday was calling.
Maybe after work?
No, that's no good
Mandatory overtime
all this week. Saturday?
No, I told Mom I would visit.
Mass and grocery shopping
on Sunday leaves no time.
Next Thursday!
I don't think I have anything
next Thursday!
I'll be sure to pencil in
a few hours for pondering.
"Time has collapsed."
Very curious.
