Gardener

Gardener

A Poem by Jaylen Stokes

Death, my beautiful something has died...
But I don't grieve...
The Problem turned out to be confusion...
Between death of a half
The return of a fake one...
And another confusion killed my beautiful something
While I was nurturing it, it told me
Something wasn't right
So she let me go
But I am still going to nurture her
Just not as her beautiful something
Sometimes to nurture you must first die yourself
Then be resurrected to begin nuturing again
That is the life and death of a gardener
But would you be a gardener,
Helping and being loved
Never hurting but not being overwhelmed
No matter what always nuturing the beauty
And the wonders around her
Or a player,
Cheating and hurting
Slowly killing all beauty
Making a waste land
any hope of love crushed forever by mistrust...
Always hated and followed
That path will always lead
to death of both halves of the heart
So would you rather be a player
In the Game of Death,
Or a gardener
In the Garden of Eden?
