"

This is a summary poem of the book, "Of Mice and Men"

"
His name is lennie,
He isn't the brightest.
His appearance is odd,
He isn't the lightest.
For such a big fellow,
His voice shows no might
For he is quite slow,
But boy can he fight!
Of course he can't think,
At least not on his own.
For he has his pal George,
Of whom is well known.
Since many years ago,
Since aunt Clara had died.
Lennie was left to George,
Who has given him his pride.
Pride that life will change,
Pride that they'll own a ranch.
Pride that it will work out,
If only they had the chance.
They once were In weed,
Where George was quite a success.
Until Lennie made a mistake,
Of which created a big mess.
He only wanted to pet her,
He really liked her dress.
He didn't wanted to upset her,
But the outcome was none the less.
She began to scream,
Of course lennie became scared too.
He only held on tighter,
Afraid of what to do.
Instead of showing sympathy,
The lady screamed out rape.
George had to take control,
They now had to escape.
"Are you mad at me George ?"
Filled lennie's mind with sorrow.
Of course George was tired,
But there was still Tomorrow.
George explained his life,
How without lennie would better it.
But soon added the facts,
That lennie was a benefit.
He mentioned men were different,
That many had no hope.
That lennie made him stand out,
With lennie; he's not alone.
Of course George had a new plan,
He was used to such a huge plate.
There was a job a few miles up,
But lennie had to cooperate.
George explained to him directly,
He had to remain silent.
Lennie had to remember,
Else things could get violent.
If a problem was to happen,
If something was to go wrong.
George told lennie to come back,
And wait for him to come along.
Whats that lennie is hiding?
He has a new friend!
George demanded to have it,
but its just a mouse with a crushed head.
"I only wanted to pet it George,
I didnt mean no harm."
Thats what he always says,
Too bad hes so strong.
The night was soon to fall,
George had plenty beans to heat.
Lennie found some wood,
The men began to eat.
If only lennie had ketchup,
Boy it'd be a treat!
But of course it angered George,
Have Ketchup? How could he!?
A big day was to come,
The men needed to sleep.
They laid down for rest,
Not another word , not another peep.
...
They have now reached their destination,
Of which they are a day late.
They are introduced,
And of course lennie is bait.
There is the boss's son curly,
Whom is a bit smaller than most.
Who dislikes lennie at hand,
Showing it as he boasts.
Lennie doesn't know why ,
He doesn't want any trouble.
"I just want to be liked George"
Is all he can mumble .
Soon comes along a tramp,
She is said to be curlys wife.
But lennie looks at her in awe,
Which may cost him his life.
George yells at him fiercely,
"Don't you want to tend rabbits ?
If so, don't speak to her !
Better not make it a habit !!"
Time passes by,
Lennie is known to be slow.
But his work ethic is awesome,
He plays a great role .
Days go by,
George talks to candy.
A man with much money,
That will soon come in handy.
They speak about the ranch,
They will each go in on half.
This makes things more realistic,
This makes lennie laugh!!
"George will I get to tend the rabbits"
"Yes, lennie you will..
But first you have to stay good,
Remember we made a deal."
Things are going great,
Lennie has a pup.
He is always occupied,
Until curly tends to show up .
He knows that lennie is quite slow,
So he thought to pick a fight.
Thinking he'd get away with it,
Since lennie isn't so bright.
But lennie being the way he is,
Reacts as such a baby.
Until George gives him an order,
Which makes him go crazy.
The outcome wasnt pretty,
Curly was quite awoken.
He thought he was slick,
But left with his hand now broken.
You'd think they'd be canned,
Blackmail was the clue.
If curly got them fired,
They'd let out the big news!
Time was surely passing,
Lennie met a n****r.
That wanted out so bad,
As much as one would figure.
He explained how good lennie had it,
That he had George no doubt .
Somebody to listen to anything,
Someone to care about.
Later in the week,
Lennie killed his pup.
"What will George think!
I should just give up !!
I could live in a cave ..
And never harm a thing.
I always ruin stuff,
George doesn't need me."
Suddenly Out of nowhere,
Shows up curlys wife.
I can't speak to you miss,
I swore on my rabbit's life.
But no she didn't listen,
Instead she got near him.
Only to have him touch her ,
She should have simply feared him.
Of course he loved the touch,
Her hair was such a dream.
He wouldnt let go of her,
Which caused her to scream!
"No you mustn't scream!
George Will get mad !"
Therefore he covered her mouth,
Not understanding how bad ..
All of a sudden she stopped breathing,
All of a sudden she died.
This scared lennie even more,
This made lennie cry.
"Now I must go back,
For I have caused trouble."
Go back to the brush ,
Go back to the brush he mumbled.
Soon enough they knew,
Lennie was to blame.
All the men went searching,
To curly it was a game.
George went as well,
He couldn't let lennie suffer.
For if he was to lose lennie,
It could only make him tougher.
George knew where to find lennie,
Well at least he should.
Back at the brush he found him,
Back at the brush he stood.
"George ! I've been bad George,
Are you made at me?"
That's all he could think about,
George felt sympathy.
"No , lennie. I'm not mad,
But what you did was wrong.
I know you didn't mean no harm,
You're just very strong ."
"Do I still get to tend the rabbits?
Are we still to go ?
Or have I caused to much trouble,
Please just let me know."
"Yes, we will have our ranch,
We will make it happen.
You are not a bad guy, lennie
You never have been."
"Well tell me about the ranch George,
Tell how it will be.
Tell how we are different, George
I have you and you have me."
"Yes lennie, we are different,
Yes lennie I have you.
Yes lennie you can tend the rabbits,
But there is something I must do.
Turn your head away boy,
Look away and dream.
Imagine all the rabbits,
Imagine all the things . "
"Yeah I see it all, George.
I see it now so clear."
Here's comes the men...
The footsteps sounding near.
"Keep your head turned boy,
Hurry look away."
He didn't want to do it..
But today was lennies last day.
The men were coming closer,
It was clear what he had done.
The men felt sorrow,
And invited George for fun.
George held his head low,
He didnt want to see.
George was torn apart,
But at the same time set free.
