I heard your voice before I knew your name. You played through the background Of my life, strumming in keyboard perfection, one song at a time. Soar, Eagle, soar.
You gave that Peaceful, Easy Feeling singing Try To Love Again, One of These Nights
Take It Easy, hun.
Such sage advice, your voice so wise Hotel California stay in paradise. Yes, soar, Eagle, soar.
Musical poetry penned so fine Every word touched heart and mind; Beat not really rock, nor country of old you blazed your own path to our soul with melancholy sounds of Tequila Sunrise, plucked out on guitar a musical prize. You buddied up with Don Henley writing tons of scores and together you flew, watched the Eagles soar. Soar, Eagles, soar.
And when the bird flew too high his wings singed by the sun, Desparado searching the horizon, you struck out on your own. Finding your True Love, yes, the One You Love and the Heat Is On to survive A race against the friend, no longer by your side. Fly Glenn, fly.
But Hell does freeze over, And you guys performing another try to Take It to the Limit one more time while Life in the Fast Lane was from age gone by. But an new generation fell in love So it wasn't Wasted Time, just a Long Road Out of Eden With pot-Holes in the World you tried to patch up. Soar, Eagle soar.
And so you'd meet your Last Resort, as you Dreamed There was No War. You were Busy Being Fabulous Letting songs spread the message of love. Yes, you were Somebody to Love. Fly, Glenn, fly.
Now You Belong to the City of angels And I feel the Heartache Tonight because you're gone, no hope in sight as I sit in my Sad Cafe. You left too soon for all your fans With one last message as you went, “It's Your World Now. Take care of it.” We will. Rest, Eagle Rest.
A tribute to Glenn Fry
Twenty two titles of songs he wrote and sang are entwined. Some are Eagles songs and some are from his solo career before the band got back together.

Well my eyes are misty right now. This is such a wonderfully done tribute to one of the greats, Glenn Frey. The Eagles are huge in the soundtrack of my life, I can still remember where I was when I heard certain songs (Hotel California I heard while riding in a car).
Hey Jan, the Eagles played on the Grammys as a tribute to him, and I was flat out crying. There was a guy playing in Glenn's spot that looked like Jackson Browne, did he join the Eagles? I know they were friends for decades. Thanks so much for giving me the pleasure of reading this; it's going straight into my library favorites. take care...dan

Yes, I had to watch. Was rather annoyed that they didn't intro.them better. But I sat there wondering if that was the last time we'd see them together. If you watch the later interviews, it was obvious that he had become the frontman, and possibly the glue. I can only hope I'm wrong.
When I decided too write this one, I went back and really liked at the discography, and origins of the music. I did not really have to do that when I write "Love to the Eagles" in '03. But for this I only wanted his songs. Glenn collaborated on at least 3/4 of the songs with only a few written by outside sources. I'm not sure most people got the Jackson Browne connection. And perhaps He would be a good choice for touring, but it won't be the same.
I knew you would like this one from our conversations on music, despite its length.
Beautiful tribute! It's amazing the impact a musician can have on our lives and the way their music supports our feelings, emotions and even moments in our lives. I thought of the way I feel about some of my favorite musicians and the words you share match the feelings I have for them. Excellent write :)

I can only believe that Glenn Frey would be really honored and pleased. I loved the concept of "you played throughout the background of my life." Although I know little of "popular" music and never followed the Eagles, his music certainly has played in the background of my life as well as yours (not quite as 'background' in yours). Such a touching tribute so eloquently stated.

Their lyrics are outstanding, and while if I'd had to pick only one to meet, it would have been Henley, Glenn Fry wrote a lot of the music, as well as lyrics. The thought of never having a true Eagles album again, makes me sad. I'm just glad he got the band together one last time. I'll watch the Grammys this year, because the other members are doing a tribute to him. It may be the last time they take a stage together.
Again a wonderful tribute Jan, He's one of those that will live forever
for his music touches so many lives, inspiring as well as motivating.
A fine pieace of writing you had versed very cool. Thanks EG

There are three voices that come out of us people, the voice of the mind, heart, and soul, and the strongest of them all is the voice of the soul cause it is the voice of the heavens, so pure and clear with honest depth. When someone sings from his soul you become elevated. Nice tribute, I don't really know him, but I will try to listen to some of his. Thank you for sharing.
