The Glass Mask Part II

The Glass Mask Part II

A Poem by JayBiz

It’s cold as can be imagined;

Each layer thinner than paper

Forged by the embers of many desires,

Bound by the collection of every tear.

Does it make you feel more beautiful,

To be as ugly to others as you are inside?

A heart cloistered away like a sister of the cloth,

Not to be confused with something so pure.

Heinously afflicted by self-pity,

Brandishing the feeling like a believer does a cross

To bear the suffering of ages

Yet dearly lacking in empathy.

Don the mask of oppression

Made of glass, bound by regret

Affording the illusion of being hidden,

But transparent as the clearest day.

Shed the doubt and darkness

Become brazen in that disguise

The delicate features encapsulated,

Accentuated by the silky smoothness.

This disguise betrays you,

I see into its eyes; a void

Pulling my body and soul closer

As the dagger of betrayal finds its mark.
