Mother Ocean

Mother Ocean

A Poem by JayBiz

All the layers of sand, combed through on a whim during a Summer's morning. Swept away by the threatening waves which present themselves as a soft kiss on the lips. Neglected by the hands of children, whole kingdoms are swept away. Whole civilizations built and fall as day changes hands with the night. The spires, the windows, balustrades, even esplanades dissolve into the sea’s wrath. It’s laughable, really, as the sea gives life to these cities and fortresses and just as quick they are reclaimed by her hand. Creation is a fickle thing for what is built can’t last for all time. A sun rise, picturesque. The Creators come with pail and shovel, tools for sculpting and begin their work. Small hands shape and within an hours' time yet another city erected. Stretching toward the sky to challenge God, a testament to man, the castle made of sand awaits its fate. Slowly, as she has all the time, mother Ocean gathers her strength to reclaim this place.
