Chapter ThreeA Chapter by Jay_BluefireAnother 2018 POVYEAR: 2018 LOCATION: Clandestine HQ STATUS: Mission Accomplished “Good job, everyone,” I congratulate. “The Masked Thieves won’t be stealing anyone else's jewelry for a long time.” It’s a solid victory. The jewel thieves were harder to beat than we expected. Everyone cheers, and I grin. “Alpha team, meet me in my office. Everyone else, start celebrating,” I order. Then I turn and leave, knowing that my team - and my co-leaders - are following. Once in our office, a far cry from my purple-and-blue bedroom where it all began, we sit around an oval-shaped table to review the mission. And our next objective. “Now that the Thieves are out of the picture, whoever put in the order for them to target our city will have to figure out something else,” Red reasons. “It’ll probably take them a couple of days to gather a new team.” “Unless they anticipated this,” Jaz comments. “I mean, the Thieves started their thieving before we put the Tap Dancing Terrorists in jail, so they might already have someone out there.” “Or, they’re biding their time to see what our next move is,” Ricky states, looking extremely proud of himself for thinking of it. “Good points, all of you, but you’re forgetting one thing,” I remind. They all turn to me, confused looks on their faces. “We have a lead.” I wave the manilla folder in my hand. “Remember? The folder of top secret information we got from their base? Not to mention the flash drive that I filled with all of their computer’s data before we left.” “I completely forgot about that,” Vicky says, slumping in her chair. “We’ve got a long night ahead of us.” “I’ve got this one,” I say confidently. “I’m the technopath, remember? You all get some sleep, and I’ll go through the flash drive information to see what I can find.” With nods of assent, Alpha team stands and leaves the room, probably heading either to their bedrooms or the party downstairs. My bedroom is attached to the office, though not many know it. “I’ll take the folder info,” Red volunteers. “The flash drive is full, it’ll take you all night. If I take this, it’ll be faster.” Without waiting for my response, he grabs the folder out of my hand and disappears in a puff of shadow. Shadow teleportation, I huff as I slip into my room and boot up my computer. Plugging in the flash drive, I wait for the information to fill my screen. Pop-ups soon fill the small chromebook screen, and all the others screens I’ve connected to my main computer. I have a small server farm in my room, as an inventor I like to have a secure place to store my blueprints. As I stare at the information filling the screens, I let out a long sigh. This is going to be a long night. © 2018 Jay_BluefireAuthor's Note
