Snow Roses (Age 5)

Kylah is trying to find something to do and goes to ask her family to do things with her

Kylah Thorn was walking around the house alone. She loved to explore the house since it was very big and has many rooms but it was lonely. There were servants doing chores and keeping an eye on Kylah. She was the youngest daughter of John and Diana Thorn and is the future heir to their name. Her elder sister, Kaitlyn was at school at the moment and even when she’s there, she almost always ignores her sister. So Kylah walked into her father’s study and stood on one of the chairs by his desk. 

“Daddy? What are you doing?” she asks looking at the paperwork 

“Kylah, sweetie, Daddy’s working right now” he says not looking up from the paperwork

“Ohhh… I wanted to cook today.” she says getting down from the chair 

“I will later but for now no. Go dance with your mother” he says sending her away 

Kylah left the study and walked towards her mother’s studio. Diana was dancing to ballet music. She was dancing with her eyes closed and was doing it gracefully. Kylah watched her mother with amazement. 

“What do you want, honey?” she asked still dancing 

“Daddy can’t cook because he’s busy so he sent me here to dance with you” she says happily 

“Maybe later honey. Mommy is making a new dance sequence for an upcoming show”she says 

“Oh… um oka” Kylah says downhearted

Kylah walked out of her mother's studio and into the garden by the white roses. She laid on the ground and closed her eyes. She could see the garden in black and white around her. When a servant approached her from the manor, she sat up and opened her eyes. 

“Lady Thorn why don't you come inside? It’s getting cold and we can't have you getting sick. Why don’t we bake in the kitchen?” she says smiling 

“Okay May” she says smiling at her

Kylah gets up off the floor and follows May into the manor. They walked to the kitchen and Kylah started to pull out pans for baking. May got knives and the ingredients necessary such as apples, pie crust, cinnamon, and other items. Kylah smiles as she rolls out the crust while May cuts up the apples and starts to cook them. Once the apples were done they put them in the crust and roll them up placing them in the cupcake tray. May put them in the oven and soon the smell spread throughout the house. 

Once they were done baking, after the girls cleaned up the kitchen, took them out of the oven and let them cool on the stove. The smell drifted throughout the manor and Kaitlyn walked in from school. She put her bag down at the dining room table and entered the kitchen to see her little sister singing a nursery rhyme and carefully drizzling honey on the roses. Her mother and father entered the kitchen as well to see what was cooking. 

“Look May, i finished them!” she says happily when she looked at her

“Good job my Lady. They look yummy” May smiled at her

“I bet they taste great as well,” her mother says 

Kylah passed out the apple roses to her parents and sister while May watched them. 

“Wow this actually tastes good” Kaitlyn says as finished eating it

“Hmm not bad Kylah” her mother says with a grin 

“It could use a little work but it is edible” her father says looking at her 

Kylah smiles at her family and she didn't notice May leaving the room to do other chores. For once Kylah didn't feel alone in the manor, and moments like these, like baking for her family, make her happier than anyone ever knows.
