2001 - A Space Odyssey - Conquest of Paradise....A Story by Lewis Findleywhat tale told here?
A Traveler through the depths of interstellar space found a small planet to land the 3 earth space ships .. and landing his "magi of space" in a sufficient and convenient location. He exited the lead craft at the head of the expedition. Having instructed his crew to act peacefully and respectfully toward the planetary indigenous , all was well , briefly. A trade was established between earth and this distant sphere, and the leader of the "magi of space " told the ones on this planet of his Deity , of which they already had something of a concept. For a while the learning and business experience was exquisite..... Until one day... one of the explorers more belligerent subordinates fired fatal wounds into the camp of the indigenous....this left the leader of the expedition in a compromising position. Needing to remain loyal to his men, and the party funding this, and also wanting to remain friendly toward the indigenous. So reluctantly, he led a war against the indigenous...As for the artifacts brought back to earth, there were some artifacts yet not the grandeose ones promised.... A trial was held...... on earth. The leader of the interplanetary expedition was defendant...The leaders funding the expedition and sending him there to were judges. The defendant was given fair opportunity to defend himself. Yet all for naught. "Young man, there were three who had made this same expedition prior to you."
The three names he had noped would never be mentioned WERE mentioned. These were all fictional stories, so he had believed. the first man acted rightly, the second man acted evil. The third leader , a woman , acted, as the first man, justly. "Am I under arrest?" The defendant asked.. "Yes." And he was taken captive and held in the dungeon of the palace. The Grand inquisitor of the realm was asking for the head of the navigator. The King would hear none of this.... "Sir" The king spoke... The first three expeditions, they failed miserably in the intent of conversion... The conversion aspect led by the space magi has seemed to work, and furthermore a subsequent expedition which I did not fund has landed on a far larger planet and has been far more sucessful. I demand this man released immediately." And upon his release, the navigator spoke with the queen, she spoke these two words "Thank you." And he kissed the ring on her hand, and went his way to his abode to be with his wife and sons... On his death bed, he spoke this , his epitaph.... "Father into thy hands, I yield my ghost" Happy Columbus Day
