Left In RuinA Poem by JayJayBlueAbout dating someone who you know wasn't right for you, yet trying to hold to the idea of love, rather than the person
I suppose I was in love
Not with the person but the idea She's magnificent Glimmering like gold She's like a diamond Beautiful but cold Our words were limited And soon our differences showed All of her overwhelming flaws My mistake to let them go She's the guilty party Yet I feel the shame One heart left to ruin The other neglects the blame I knew it was doomed to die But maybe I could alter time She's malicious Or just dispassionate She's like the others But I fell into the trap Nothing of substance Maybe it never existed at all But I'd have flown like Icarus For her, the angels would fall She's the guilty party Yet I feel the shame One heart left to ruin The other neglects the blame © 2016 JayJayBlue |
