A Graceless Departure

A Graceless Departure

A Poem by JayJayBlue
"

About surrender, loss, grief

"
Howling at the moon
The dead turn in their graves
I've been feeling broken for days
Punching out at the ghosts
As the blood runs dry in my veins
All shadows encircle me
And I'm weeping for a lost cause
Demons are my only company
Embraced in cold grip of claws
Accelerating to an unclear fate
There's no point turning around
The lighthouse long extinguished
I'm struggling to concentrate
No sense of existence in this town
My heartbeat slowly diminishing
Stars bear witness to my downfall
A graceless departure from Earth
Spiralling down through every sphere
Death brings unwelcome gifts
But I know I can't stay here
Glancing in the mirror
What worlds are better than this?
Heaven is hell after the crucifix
My reflection is sinister in my eyes
A castle falling brick by brick
Extracting my soul piece by piece
Now that I'm ready to drown
My ship crashing now upon the rocks
My heart begins it's final retreat
There's no life left in this town
Tell me now, what I haven't lost
We can pretend that there is a God
Is he blind or just cruel
To let all of the angels fall
We can admit it's all over now
There's no way but down
Let me go, let me drown
