![]() Before The Ships ArriveA Poem by JayJayBlue![]() About the loss of ambition and the cynicism we naturally develop as adults![]() I'm incapable of feeling anything All damaged but not yet broken Staring out the window of the train It's all frost-coated and monochrome As I sketch my future on the window On a canvas of grey I know just how I used to be And I apologise for my lack of a will Everything I see is sketched like a dream There's nothing for my heart to beat for Once bursting as like a quasar Reduced to a trickling stream Though I kept a place for you in my soulBut only for a nanosecond My retinas were scorched, but I Caught a microscopic glimpse of heaven As the world turns I'll seek the calm My grievances I've already buried I'll accept this fate stoically Until it's time to board the ferry All smiles fall flat before me I'm not a misunderstood soul Or a victim you need to save Just indulge me and my sense of apathy I just wanna sketch my melancholy future On the windows of the train The platform beckons and I'm at peace Although far from triumphant I traded scorched heaven for an easy life I have no need to ascend to your world Or to have all of the world All I want is to have survived As the world turns I'll seek the calm My grievances I've already buried I'll accept this fate stoically Until it's time to board the ferry This word in my heart is surrender But all in all I'm feeling far from morose My dreams, I've left them all behind All I that need, was always under my nose As the world turns I'll seek the calm My grievances I've already buried I'll accept this fate stoically Until it's time to board the ferry © 2015 JayJayBlue |
