Outside In ColourA Poem by JayJayBlueAbout the niggling self-doubts and self-criticisms we all go through, and trying to disguise them with a veil of confidence.
Of course we're slipping in the January frost
I've given up the hope of finding something better Should I run, Should I walk? Should I change my name and my address? Or should I do, whatever you think is best? Everybody wants to be cooler than they are All pretensions to some far-fetch ideal Who's better now, who's in vogue? All fashions come and go, so feeble All personalities fluid, in free-fall Let's feel like we're outside in colour But what I want is unobtainable And I'm sorry I'm not like my filtered-pictures We're all losers and fractured, set-up to fail I'm crashing and melting in the summer's light And still I'm where I was a year ago I'll break my own heart, in so many pieces Should I write you a poem, my dear? Or let you destroy yourself in fear? Everybody hides away behind the electric fence But all judgemental of others Are you any better than me? Who's to say what should be perfection Who's to say that we're worthy of affection? Let's feel like we're outside in colour But what I want is unobtainable And I'm sorry I'm not like my filtered-pictures We're all losers and fractured, set-up to fail © 2015 JayJayBlue |
