Happy Ever After (And Other Such Lies)A Poem by JayJayBlueAbout how sometimes as adults, we wish our lives could be simpler, akin to fairy tales
Where's the view we saw in childhood
In primary colours when we commanded the world The kingdom of our dreams graced with light All we wanted was sprawled before us To be enjoyed and threw away As we grow and chemistry stirs and thrives Biology alters us and not for the better Shadows appear, waiting behind the light Thrown in too deep Into the heartache of our daily lives It was happily ever after Until we saw the sequel Snapped out from my memories But I know the kingdom's gates are forever closed I can't play the king, the prince Or even the brave knight I am not ever the servant Just an echo, and nothing else All of the flowers condemned to wilt and die Each of them my own adult mistakes And I wish the kingdom could open it's gates If only for a day But maybe there's a new place for us all To where the colours can shine And there are no shadows And where the gates are open It was happily ever after Until we saw the sequel © 2015 JayJayBlue |
