Scorched FlagsA Poem by JayJayBlueAbout uncertainty, deciding whether something is worth risking everything for
And we've spun ourselves out into the cold
The stars realign and we're now truly lost As our eyes interlock Confusion dwells, and doubt ascends We'll break out but I know you're holding back I'll try to make you smile one last time Take a look at the ground and wonder why In your heart there's only empty space My heart could synchronise with yours If you allow yourself a risk of emotion Scatter the tears to the wind And become another soul in the ocean We'll be triumphant Or we'll be nothing at all Now the flag of victory is scorched And our tattoos proclaiming our love Are carved out of our skin A romance far from white and saintly Attracted and destroyed by our mutual sins Endless rush of colder waters take us down Flailing hopelessly waiting for the end You look around for some distant shore All the while I'm feeling ignored None of us wanted this Or do we know if it will continue Safe to say I enjoyed the shortest of rides Even if we're now both condemned Now the flag of victory is scorched And our tattoos proclaiming our love Are carved out of our skin A romance far from white and saintly Attracted and destroyed by our mutual sins © 2014 JayJayBlue |
