A Fading Echo

About making a major decision in your life and wondering whether you've done the right thing.

In all the madness of these last few days

My head concussed from so many stray punches

I look around the world and it has changed

Now that you and me are permanently estranged

Another cycle of calamity

Switching onto the peak of it's powers

And as we lift back the world's veil

We're awaiting the end of the final hour

And so we're onto our final goodbye

There's no anger, no tears

Just emptiness and a quiet sigh

I'll cast you to the void

And the wind drags your memory away

Only an echo remains

So quickly left to fade

All is calm and my adrenaline subsides

I can open my eyes and observe the wreckage

The debris revealed as we pull back the tide

And what is shown leaves us sickened, horrified 

Another spin of the wheel

And the darkness endures

I'm looking back on my decision

But there's no time to be unsure

And so we're onto our final goodbye

There's no anger, no tears

Just emptiness and a quiet sigh

I'll send the memory away

And the ship sails beyond my sight

Only emptiness remains

So quickly left to fade
