These Stars Are FadingA Poem by JayJayBlueAbout musing on old times, wondering if they were really as wonderful as you believed. And facing the rush of the coming years.
I look into the mirror
I see a face Haggard and old before it's time Here I am Trying to figure out When my youth went away And now I feel Some old sentiment Rose-tinted gloss of old times Here I stand Stressed and weary The records have ceased to play And even the stars seem faded The wild rivers now trickling, tamed My adolescent soul, now jaded I'm lucky to still be alive But I've been wishing for more I glance at the hills All colours run to nothing I'm worse than I used to be Here I'll remain An ageing heart filled with pain The neon city brings only pain And how I feel Desperate for attention Some trick of the light for old times Forget it now I don't want to be wild I despise my old youth And even the stars seem faded The wild rivers now trickling, tamed My adolescent soul, now jaded I'm lucky to still be alive But I've been wishing for more © 2014 JayJayBlue |
