To The Great PlainsA Poem by JayJayBlueAbout travelling abroad for the first time
I'm the designated dreamer
Mind filled with the images of the gate What's beyond the garden? What's beyond the grassy horizon? I'm just a real believer I want to be lost elsewhere now What's across the ocean? When can I see past the horizon And sometime I'll reach the airport Pick any path to any land I'll be swimming in the ocean East or West Who cares? So long as I'm there To America's great plains Or to the snow-capped mountains Soon I'll arrive Soon I'll feel alive I'm departing from this grey city Worn from my English prison The turbulence is a welcome sign My first flight leaves tonight The lights of London far behind Now we sit and wait For the New World to welcome me A new horizon as far as I can see To America's great plains Or to the snow-capped mountains Soon I'll arrive Soon I'll feel alive © 2014 JayJayBlue |
