Who Really Cares?

About realising you're about to burn bridges with someone but your pride and stubbornness prevents you from rectifying the situation

There's nothing left but hollow resignation

No pseudo-philosophical statements can remedy

We're all wasting time

The same mistakes made again by me

They all presume to know what's best

No meaningless words can rectify 

The damage I've already done

We're just waiting to die

I'm fuelled by rumours

But defined by malice

I'm going to lose her

But I'm not inclined to care

There's no cure or settlement for us

You're rehashing the past to appeal to me

We're both f*****g up

We're just too warped and distorted to see

We all presume to know what's best

Provide weary words of consolation

There's no way to end the pain

But to numb the sensation

I'm fuelled by rumours

I'm going to lose her

But I'm not inclined to care

This stanza shows me the intensity of the situation even though it is at the beginning of the write. I love this one especially as I can relate to this write a lot and it makes me realize sometime indifference is better than the pain you go through when you're still in contact with the person if nothing changes. Beautiful write.
