Puzzled MindA Poem by JayJayBlueIt's about when people decide to 'come out the closet' and all of the uncertainties and doubts that build up before hand
What's the struggle in my puzzled mind
Is it down to nurture or simply biology Everything I've known is possibly wrong All that we're shown, incorrect all along Trying to make sense of my affections My attractions to the same sex Do my friends know Do my parents understand All of this confusion Kept in my shaking hands Who am I to fall in love with Is it her or is it him It doesn't help when I've been told To be myself is to sin All the possibilities and nothing remains I can't help but question my own mind All that I've tried to comprehend Is just making me crazy in the end Trying to deal with my genetics And love for a wonderful man Do my friends still love me Does my brother reject my path If I'm built in a god's image Why should I face his wrath? Who am I to fall in love with Is it her or is it him It doesn't help when I've been told To be myself is to sin I'll let myself be truthful to the world After so many years of uncertainty The toxic reactions from ignorant enemies Will soon cease to hurt Who am I to fall in love with Is it her or is it him It doesn't help when I've been told To be myself is to sin © 2014 JayJayBlue |
