The Loss Of My Years

The Loss Of My Years

A Poem by JayJayBlue
"

It's about being able to look back on your life with joy and satisfaction that you have made the world a better place before you die

"
I'm edging towards the dusk of my years
Even the sun in splendor is a pale ghost to me
I cannot hear the voices of dear children
I have no beautiful faces
Upon which to see

Casting a wistful sigh
Harken back to the years
Where there were no ailments of the years
No unrelenting tears
Or the veil of death before my eyes

What's left but my crumbling legacy
But the opening of my tomb
The eternal bed on which I'm soon to rest
I strive to know the warmth of my family
Before the hour of my doom

Look through all of the boxes
Every letter etched upon my creaking heart
The photos faded but the smiles everlasting
Sentiments transcend time
Long after I will depart

Feel no sorrow or pity
For those blessed to live the years
The world has given me my kingdom
And sculpted perfection from my life
I will walk hand in hand
With the harvester of my soul
And head into the opening light
