Servants To TraditionA Poem by JayJayBlueAbout how the pre-conceived rules and stereotypes found in love can have a negative impact on people
All my days I see scriptures of love
Played out before a clichéd backdrop Perpetrating the same old stereotype As if I haven't the weight of the world already As if I haven't already suffered enough I wake up from troubled dreams Reading electronic pledges of dedication But we all see it as an ego boost But I'll just suppress a sigh and roll my eyes Love is a safe option, but you're never free I feel like I'm the only one Who isn't a slave to tradition I may have had romance in my heart But this cynical world Demanded it's extradition Whirlwind romance Clearing out the dust Leaving us all ruined in it's wake The movie prom night dance We're behind the lights All empty hopes, all of it fake Detached from the scene, the wedding begins Where love ends, and battle commences Rehashed monologues of devotion Shoddily acted as I fall asleep As if I haven't suffered for my sins © 2013 JayJayBlueReviews
