Harsh LightsA Poem by JayJayBlueAbout finding love through mutual heartbreak, but also exploring how mutual distrust and cynicism can break something before it's madeShe’s stepping out of the tunnel But the light is harsher than the dark She’s tired of being a marionette Strings pulling her this way and another Pulling at a weakened heart She feels she deserves everything But nothing at all Sorrow etched across her face And she endures with fragile grace She says “I don’t deserve you” I’m the best and worst part of her She loves me, but I’m the last thing she needs She keeps the butterflies like armour around her heart She dances under the glare of stars Our creaking hearts will embrace the dark She’s with me now, and its love Our common fragility brings us closer But it’ll be what tears us apart She has an uneasy truce with her mind Almost broken now Sorrow etched across her face Completing her fall from grace She says “I don’t deserve you” I’m the best and worst part of her She loves me, but I’m the last thing she needs She keeps the butterflies like armour around her heart © 2013 JayJayBlue |
