Second Hand HeartacheA Poem by JayJayBlueIt's about how there's always one person who is used as an emotional punching bag and nothing but a shoulder to cry on, even if they never return the favourHere comes another soul in a tortured dilemma Seeking salvation in my numbing shoulder I wish beyond words that I couldn’t care I wish beyond words that I could be colder And so another day comes and she’s crying again This girl’s in love and another one is bereaved All I am is an unwilling ear and a comforting ghost Every emotional wound, septic and exposed I hold the weight of the world, as everybody grieves And I’m drenched in tears Snapping under the tension of others’ heartbreak I’m locked into a cycle of misery Of all their traumas and lies But I can laugh Because it’s only everyone else’s demise Another day Another intake of a weary sigh All of their sorrows and glories A second hand view through blurry eyes Here’s another round of long conversation Another shot of whiskey to mute their voices I’m forced to listen in servitude to my better nature To re-live all of their errors and wrong choices Now we’re approaching the night, more drunken sobs This guy is forgetting her, and the other is an idiot in love All I am is the diary for their scrawlings and blind ideas And I’ll provide default empathy for their hopes and fears I’m left with all the baggage but I’ve had enough A million more broken dreams More texts and love notes to read through I’ll tell them what they want to hear Give them a hope they had anyways This is the life of the dear friend This is an extract of my drunken days Another day Another intake of a weary sigh All of their sorrows and glories A second hand view through blurry eyes © 2013 JayJayBlueFeatured Review
