Blind Dates

Blind Dates

Blind Dates

Here's to the blind dates you have had

Here's to the good, and here's to the bad

To boozers and grabbers and drooling of lips

To the friends who will stick you with all of the pips

To the time you were given that "Oh special dear"

And found in the end he was hopelessly queer

To the one who would laugh at his own moldy jokes

To the black and the blue from the elbow he pokes

To the finks, and the wimps, with the breath of the fish

To friends who are served with the tastier dish

To calls that begin, "I'm a friend of a friend"

To the bruises and tears you receive in the end

To the hopes that you start with, all happy and bright

To the sigh that you give at the end of the night

To the friends who arrange

To the weird and the strange

To the times that you’re sure that your date has the mange

To passes inept, and to passes quite deft

To God's gift to women with whom you've been left

To heaven’s bright gift to the female kind

Who have all you need, except for a mind

To many so poor, and the few who're quite good

To blockheads and morons, and heads solid wood

They come in all sizes except the right one

But you always smile, while they have the fun

One thing makes it good, though,

and gives it some zest

When they've gone out with you

 They’ve been with the best!

I am laughing helplessly!
The dragging fishy breathe, the blockhead, the dry jokes!!!
Who ever invented blind dates?
The stories are hilarious and horrific.
I have heard enough to vow never to go on one because after all said and done, blind dates are for the courageous.
JayG, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this poem.
Thank you for sharing.

Ah, the joy and chaos of blind dates, indeed! Here's to the weirdos who make it memorable. And, as you so perfectly put it, when they’ve gone out with us, they've truly been with the best!

Incredibly witty piece, I see what you meant about metrics within poems and I can really feel a clear rhythm to your work. It’s a heart felt piece with moments of humour and realism, failure and exploration and its ends in definitive triumph. Great work!

This song cleverly blends humor with a touch of sarcasm, offering a light-hearted commentary on the ups and downs of blind dates and the quirky characters encountered along the way. The playful tone and witty rhymes capture the frustration and absurdity of dating, while also highlighting the resilience and sense of humor needed to navigate these experiences. However, at times, the lyrics may feel a bit repetitive and exaggerated, but this is in keeping with the song's comedic style. Overall, it's a fun, relatable piece for anyone who's experienced the unpredictability of blind dates.

Perhaps an inner logic links blind with love is blind but ignores blind leading blind… it could be dates with no eyes or sightless eyes…. for all I know…

Hello!
Well I met my hubby on a blind date but I must say I was a it skeptical...it was before the days of social media and date apps.... and it worked...still married after 40 years! But dating is so different now...blind dates are on online in websites and all over the internet....take your pick!!! Glad you found the right one....many of us give up after a while....do not blame them!!! Nice!
Warmly, B

It was written for my daughter, at a time when she was a bit frustrated. She's happily married now.

Well done. Quite the enjoyable read. Your rhymes were well thought out and not forced. Good flow also. Take care.
