Hometown

Hometown

A Poem by Jay Dean

My town has changed.

The roads are the same, but all is new.

Long nights driving.

People are happy.

Austin.

I stop, I break.

Coffee, stretches and view.

There is a slab waiting for development.

Gentrifiation.

I daze at the slab, the same place I once had a fiancé and big dreams.

Rent.

Phone Ping.

Coffee is a friend.

I once believed in magic.
