"Owl dance"

"Owl dance"

A Poem by Jaweena...Eileen Quintana
"

Week-ends spent watching Native American traditional dance competitions. From Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, camping out with family and friends at outdoor Pow Wow arena's.

"

Luminous stars glitter

vast heavenly bodies blink

prairie breeze currents

scented with juniper.

Young singers

sway to the beat

hand drums vibrate

to lyrics vocalized.

tender, passionate yearning

of newfound love

luner eclipse

as children slumber

nestled in blankets.

Love songs composed

inspired by glances

musicians made

victorious

excitement fills the air

as elders

keep watch

eagle plumes bob

courtship displayed

keeping rhythm

as dancers move nimbly

savoring.....

each tender moment

of sweet touch

I watch you approach

with a nod of your head

you flash that smile...

pulling me out

over protests.

teasing me

with your gaze and confidence

round the arbor

you guide me

the wall of resistance

melting slowly

enamoured by your

charm...

I want to owl dance

with you all night long

feel your strong arm

around my shoulder

as you whisper

forty nine songs in my ear

sending tingles

as you lean in...

Sure of yourself

solid in your steps

you mesmerize-

and intrigue me

with your pursuit!

It is you...that mesmerized, Jaweena
The color of your imagery is only exceeded by the beautiful photo you included..
I discovered what it must feel like to be a part of a pow wow and be assimilated into the Native American culture.. I thank you for that.

I went to a Pow wow here in Michigan last week. Few native American came. There was no celebration of the great Native Americans of the Michigan tribes. It made me sad. I wanted to see like in your photo. A great people dancing and celebrating life. Remembering the Elders and the life of brave and strong people. One day I will travel and be energized by a great Pow wow to give me hope and strength. Thank you for the photo and strong words. We must hold tight to our belief and never forget our elders. Thank you for the amazing poetry.

' I want to owl dance ~ with you all night long ~ feel your strong arm ~ around my shoulder ~ as you whisper ~ forty nine songs in my ear ' .. .. those words have to be the most passionate words I've read for ..

Your entire poem flies me to a place I'll sadly never know, and yet, somehow, you've carried me there, made it come alive because of your sincerity, and your obvious wonderment in The Moment.

This is magic of a different kind .. how I'd love to feel it.

A simply wondrous rhythm, journeying over the seasons, time before moving into time now. This just lifts the spirit with the joy of the dance, on and on...
