Dine' Wedding

Dine' Wedding

A Poem by Jaweena...Eileen Quintana
"

Exchanging wedding vows....

"

I dipped two fingertips into the blue corn mush
and fed my groom this sacred meal within our hogan.

Today, I make my promise to care for him the rest of my life!

There needs be very little words
Said at sacred times
We have become overly complicated-
million dollar weddings etcetera...
The sun sets the same over mansion honeymoons
or blue corn mush..
I prefer the honesty of the Hogan, in that, I put my faith
And believe more that the vow of
" promise to care for him the rest of my life!"
will be honored.

Such a richly woven glimpse into this day of days.. a breath's moment that changes all that follow... May joy sing over all your seasons shared!
