I attended church today

A Story by Jaweena...Eileen Quintana
"

inspired by all of Nature's creation.

"

I attended church today.

Mother Earth opened with prayer.
Sermon was profound-given by respected grandfather Wind,
My brothers and sisters, Hawk, Horse, Squirrel, Willow, Magpie and Juniper listened intently as did I!
We communed with a sacrament of corn pollen as river babbled happily his introduction,
I contemplated the wondrous speeches by the divine "Holy Ones" as they blessed our congregation of Nahookaa Diyin Dine' (On the Surface Holy People-us)
Every fiber of my being down to my very core reverberated with the message of hope, joy, happiness and devotion.
My faith and trust rejuvenated, restored again! I will endeavor to emulate their example!
My offerings of pollen, cedar and tobacco seemed small in comparison until I realized I bring my humility, supplications, my integrity and faith to practice all I heard today!
I worshiped with the sacred today-wind, water, air, mountains and lush plants in the canyon...my holy temple.
I will acknowledge, bear witness, testify to their glory and omnipotence to all creation as they do...to me.
Father Sky closed with a heartfelt prayer of compassion and love for all who attended ending with the familiar words:
Hozho nahastlii!
Hozho nahastlii!
Hozho nahastlii!
Hozho nahastlii!
(in beauty, balance, harmony and peace it is finished and made whole again)

We all need to attend such a church every day. We need to become one with nature; not simply, one within nature. People cause so much harm to our world, destroying the environment that nature freely gives to us. How beautiful our world becomes when nature is allowed to reclaim a place. Flowers, trees, and animals come back, while lumber, concrete, and man-made items decay.

This is life. This is the land, our mother Earth, how she is. Your words are both prayer and poem, and truly beautiful.

A beautifully heartfelt tribute to Nature, beauty, balance, harmony and peace.

May it be
that we all see
our greater connection with All in this tree
of life.

The land is sacred, it is the place of truth, you have given nature a voice, thank you for sharing this. The land is my only church and the best teacher. I feel the Earth speaking through your words.

I can relate to this kind of church; its doctrine written by the true hand of God, and not man.

‎"HOZHO" positive thinking, harmony, beauty, balance starts with self, family, local community then out to state and world. Actions and thinking in positivity. Your powerful mind-set impacts the universe-you make a difference. Especially on those closest to you..have a beautiful day!
These are old traditional teachings that have been practiced by our people for centuries. Teachings are told and explained within Blessingway and other ceremonies.
We are human and make mistakes but these concepts guide us to aspire to a higher level of thinking. I am just a lil Dine' woman trying hard to make sense of my world....some days you do great! But most of the time it is rough-that is life.
