"Do you see me mommy?"

"Do you see me mommy?"

A Story by Jaweena...Eileen Quintana
"

memories of my "Chubz."

"
two black eyes peek over my desk

little pudgy fingers tightening to keep their grasp

puckered lips glisten, sweetened with apple juice

baby boy of mine stretches with all his might on lil' toes

giggling with delight as he disappears from sight

soon to reappear amidst excited squeals

conversing with me through play

his question echo

"see me mommy?"

"see me mommy?"

I answer this profound question in the same way as

when he cried this same message as a newborn

I cuddle and squeeze on my precious bundle of joy

searching his eyes, holding him close, connecting

to reassure my love for him

I see you sweet boy

I see you

Thank you for all the lovely comments my friends. He is a big boy of ten now and still brings so much joy to his mama! He has been dancing and sharing his culture with our local community. I posted a picture of him in his fancy dance doing his thing hahahaha!

This human need to be seen and acknowledged is a powerful one, I think so manly of us have forgotten...your story brought joy and also understanding. Thank you for sharing this memory.

The world would be a better place if we could fulfill this need for every human being. Imagine if we acknowledged and validated each creation with respect. Instead we have millions dying without ever having received this basic fundamental human need. It is all we need and want isn't it?

I very much enjoyed this moment shared. Short and evocative. The imagery, near-flawless. This is love and you are very fortunate. Thanks for the read.

This memory must have been a joy to reflect on and write about. Very nice writing style, as i could see clearly the interaction and love between Mother and Child.
