Heathcliff

Heathcliff

A Poem by J.L.Marcus
"

My thoughts, on placing myself into the position of Heathcliff following Cathy's marriage to Edgar in Bronte's Wuthering Heights.

"
If beauty be truth then you hath neither,
His echoes through thine ear and maiden's eyes;
Beset with fears, believe, yet know she lies,
Thou art be Art, yet art a grand deceiver.
Chemistic Catherine spray thy ethyl ether
Ethyl evil, set alight, thy fire rise.
Her supple thighs beset her wisdom wise.
Her soul infinite as Plato's Aether.
I call you inspiration, elusive spark,
Mine eye and heart be at a mortal war,
Incoherence clouds over my e'er fixed mark
You are beautiful, true, yet are you true?
You lie. But fire in your eyes doth swore,
Keats be false for he has beauty as do you.

Simply brilliant, I love how the complexity of the language represents the complexity of Heathcliff's character and the fire imagery :) Great Job :)

Absolutely unbelievable capturing of the true essense of the character, has all the passion and power as if this was written by Bronte herself. Bravo

You're missing an 'n' in 'incoherence' four lines from the end.
Other than that, you manage to have captured the character fairly well, although I do think you're getting bogged down in dialogue very much, leading to those horribly pastiche lines about thighs and things. You get your message across but I feel like you could state this a little more simply for the same effect.
