Sasha the Conqueror

Sasha the Conqueror

A Poem by J.L.Marcus
"

'Love loves to love love', A sonnet written a year ago, to a girl I loved who was suffering cancer.

"
If thy love was but a cherished flower,
Your heart and soul spread o'er every petal,
In springs thou bloom yet the winters devour
My love, my rose, I embrace your nettle.

The birds and the bees may come to steal thy nectar,
And harsh winds will try to blow you astray,
However. I my love will be Autumns protector,
To shield thou from the cold day's prey.

Brave, brave flower, braving harsh winds and cold,
If death hath been these heaven's desire:
Then fate would not let of you to grow old,
But now your survival still will inspire.

Despite the illness that makes you decay,
Love and I, are forever here to stay

Wow that's really touching.
I love that you are taking advantage of the association w/ flowers and love to explore delicacy... once you add in cancer delicacy becomes a really intense concept.
I also love that it's called "Sasha the Conqueror"-- because that's what it takes to battle cancer. I didn't get the title at first (i got that it was a poem about a sick loved one, but w/o knowing it was cancer, the title didn't click), but once i read the description that it was a love poem to a girl battling from cancer it just got real and intense. Idk if there's a way to hint at it earlier w/o relying on the description, like a veiled addition to the title or something.

Reasonable premise, slightly typical, however one of the best deliveries of poetry I have ever seen. Has the potential to be a true modern classic of a love sonnet! You got promise kid!

So passionate and beautiful, really solid form language and structure, really reminiscent of a true shakespearean sonnet. The personal aspect of this poem makes it even more incredible and inspiring. A try love story told in 14 lines, GREAT JOB
