" All that is real" ... "comfort with you" ... these two ideas seem to be the soul of this poem. I always like poems that honestly say ... this is how I feel. Very nice.
A beautiful piece! The style evokes a certain mystical flow, but the words are reminiscent of Shakespeare. The imagery is incredible, and I absolutely love the last line.
A hauntingly beautiful expression of love, understanding, and connectedness to another person.
.........thrown to the skeleton of the wind
.........the orange hosannas and hallelujahs of skin to skin
That last line above shows such a reverence; a spiritual connection that manifests through physical intimacy as well as the deep emotional intimacy this poem describes.
Uniquely crafted with simple language. Excellent work here.
J, I am set at peace when I read your poem. I'm on my third reading and going back for more because I love how it makes me feel. Your phrase choices, the swaying rhythm. Beautiful.
I always thought I would know the right person by this: who makes me feel so at home in my own skin, that I would feel comforted facing the end of all things with him, knowing that the connection we shared, somehow altered things permanently. Knowing that I could live on because soemone else acknowledged my presence so strongly our energies merged, and were forver changed by each other.
This poem evokes that feeling for me, in sensations I could never even begin to describe. The "skeleton of the wind," and "hallelujahs of skin to skin." But yes, the living and dying within. Would a connection that strong not make you just that much more sensitive to it all? To the birth and life of death of everything around you, so much that you feel it in your fingertips and toes and each strand of hair moves to its rhythms, even when the wind isn't blowing?
