"The human has to go home now Noerdeber. he wants to live amongst us. We cannot have a human here!"
"And if I say otherwise Beredin? What will you do?" And Noerdeber watched as Beredin struggled to contain his anger at this suggestion.
"I would bend to your wishes of course Noerdeber, as always, it is you who leads here. And I am nothing if not a loyal follower."
"Nothing if not? You are what you are Beredin and you serve us more than you cause me misery Beredin. And no, we do not need a human to be living amongst us...not now at any rate. At another time...maybe."
"What?"
"By your reaction...I take it as a hope that you have learned why it is better that we do not bring humans here."
Beredin's silence said more than mere words could say. Not that he was finished speaking. "Yes, Henry has taught me well. So why would you want to bring a human here at some later point? It makes no sense."
"That will be all Beredin. Leave now!" And Noerdeber's tone brooked no disagreement.
So Beredin left the room of the king
Who but hours later
Sent Gathis on a trip
With Henry Hilden The Third
Whose cries were heard
As he was dragged away
And back to life
His own little one
