Where Are The Flowers

Where Are The Flowers

A Poem by Charles Petrie

Where Are The Flowers

Where are the flowers

And sweet thoughts of love

For isn't that what

It's best about

But then again

That isn't how

How best to stir and move

The patrons at the pub

Though no more for them

That I do write

Not that I ever did

I am risen high from that

But maybe still

A little of that still rests within

Where are the flowers

And sweet thoughts of love

For isn't that what

It's best about

Only flowers do not sell

This isn't a flower shop

It is a comic like

A place for tales

Of heroes' glory

Such a sweet allegory

But even so

Look ye hard enough

And you will see that as well
