Roses On Her Grave

Roses On Her Grave

A Poem by Charles Petrie
"

A poem about a failed hero

"

Roses On Her Grave

Roses on her grave

As her I could not save

So desperately I tried

I almost died

A hero then

That's what they said of me

But after her

That I couldn't be

So help me God

I lost the will

To evil still

But the world went on

As others better

Picked up my slack

And fought evil back

That I'd have done

So fortunately so

None else but she

Suffered 'cause of me

And the sun it rose

And set like always before

Roses on her grave

As her I could not save

My sweet Eileen

What would have been

If never I was

Some hero fool

A poem about a hero lost. Hey, I'm a fan of comic books, giving props...I hope, to them. That should be easy enough don't you think? Thanks.

Agreeing with the previous review, totally romantic, though tragic in a way. It's something that happens to everyone, but you lend it a beauty by putting it to paper. =) Well done lovely.

I love your romantic style. The poem had a haunting truth to it. Thank you for sharing!
