AddictionA Poem by Jason van DongenIn this poem I employ a seductress as a metaphor for drug addiction. Please review.
Behind tinted guise her luminous eyes
Hint at a seductive well of lies; He is conflicted. 'Come unto me, and you will see, There is no easier path for thee.' He's been inflicted. 'Come hither, stranger. There is no danger.' Wary, fool! You cannot change her. But he's afflicted. The foolish come; the weak, the dumb, All come thronging to be numbed. And he's addicted. © 2014 Jason van DongenAuthor's Note
