For Jaqui

For Jaqui

A Poem by Jason van Dongen
"

This poem was written to mark the anniversary of a first date, which ended in a walk along the beach.

"

I ask now of the muses nine,

To lend me of their gifts divine,

To give me words and wit to pen,

A verse to mark the morning when,

First we walked upon the sand,

And I reached out to hold your hand.

I’m thankful for that precious morn,

For never has a morning dawned,

That held more promise meant for me,

Than that wondrous day beside the sea.
