Hera's Wrath

Hera's Wrath

A Poem by Jason van Dongen
"

A short poem about the young Heracles.

"

Glorious gift of Hera, Alcmene named the child,

When jealous Hera heard the name, the more was she reviled

By the guileless babe, as he was her husband’s son,

But not of Hera born, for fair Alcmene was the one,

That mighty Zeus had chosen. The vows to Hera made,

Were scorned by Zeus. Hera swore she’d slay the babe.

She dispatched a pair of serpents with the dread command,

To be her swift assassins, but with his blameless hand,

The babe crushed one then both the serpents before they could complete,

Their task for Hera, and threw their twitching corpses down about his feet.

Very nice ;D I seldom read a good poem or story about the Greek gods. Ever since Riordan (if that's how you spell his name) came out with his Percy Jackson series it's like everyone thinks they know so much about ancient Greece when they don't really and....sorry, I'm rambling. Anyways....
I've never heard of Heracles being called Alcmene, so that was pretty neat to find out :P You sure know your stuff!!!
There was just one thing I was disappointed in - no ninjas. Unless one was disguised as a snake or something (but pirates totally beat ninjas anyway because they get to say ARGH!! and tap dance sooooo...yeah :P)
Loved it!!!! :D :D :D :D
