A Dying Wish

A Dying Wish

A Poem by Jason Shadows
"

Don't Forget.

"
"Hold On Grandpa.
 Just Hang On.
 The Ambulance Will Be Here.
 Please Grandpa Don't Die.

 He Whispers To Me.
 Promise Me You Will.
 Keep A Old Mans Wish?
I Tell Him In Tears....Yes Grandpa I Will.

There In My Hands Was Someone Precious.
 Someone I Could Not Save.
I Tried So Hard To Get Him To Breath.
 But The Life Just Escaped....Silently.

A Cars Headlights Flash As It Goes By The Wreck.
And A Memory Of Him Catches The Moment.
A Time Where We Use To Laugh Together.
Stories He Used To Tell Me When I Was A Kid.

I Used To Think I Could Save Anyone.
But I Found Out That I'm No God.
My Resurrection Skills Are Not Real.
 The Imagination Disappeared In Seconds.

Days Go By After His Death.
 Standing At His Grave Crying.
I Remember A Dying Wish Of An Old Man.
And That Wish Was.....To Be Happy."

Life Is So Precious So Make Time To Enjoy It
 Cause You Only Get One.

I Fixed It. LOL

Such a sad, and yet beautiful poem… I love how that even though it was simple, it conveyed a deep emotion. One thing, though; it's "wreck," not "wreak."
