The Anvil

The Anvil

A Poem by Jason Shadows
"

Of Perishing Life.

"
"Waking up to this beautiful morning
I cannot be caged any longer this time.

but noticing I stand alone on a cliff
looking over the ocean holding the anvil.

Tied to my foot with life's rope for hope
I sing the song of the damned lonely and lost.

I used to love the loving and care for the caring
now I'm so alone within a single simple shadow.

Nothing to hold no one to reach out to
I simply throw the anvil into the water.

Below I fall and before the fall the flash
happens to be a slight memory of you.

How? how so much pain is temporary
but the echo in my mind is life to live.

The demon trapped inside this hollow body
reminds me of the days I lived in peace.

But this is the end or is it the truth again?
cutting the rope on the way down I live again.

Now the rocks below talk like spirits
giving me this next chance at life with a soul.

Taking this decision I play with hope
giving up the moment to return to you...as a ghost."
