'The Invasion Of The Termites.'

'The Invasion Of The Termites.'

A Poem by Jason S Breed

We all think racism has gone
laid down in the clover
in no-man's land and buried itself.

Do not avert your eyes
from that resting place
as racism has gone underground.

It has become more deadly than before
gnawing away at the fabric of our multi-cultural society
like a termite eating the floorboards beneath our feet.

Slowly,
Surely,
The fabric of society falls away from beneath our feet.

Lose the foot and anarchy prevails.
Even our rose-coloured glasses
lay smashed beneath the termites blinkered vision.

We free-fall like a skydiver
without his parachute
into the arms of another neo-fascist theme.

Very thought provoking! You are absolute right about racism. It truly is a dangerous thing to ignore an on going problem. The problem festers like an ulcer...in your poem, an invasion of termites. Great poem!
