On the first day of my next year – about a window – an amazing invention!

On the first day of my next year – about a window – an amazing invention!

A Poem by Jasmine
"

The first birthday i spent alone - far away from my loved ones. I was sulking and to let someone know, writing about it.

"

Lying between these sheets

Trying to listen to the noise " actually the silence of the streets

(LOL. I sound like Darren Hayes’ ‘Insatiable’)

Anyway,

Looking out through the window

At the trees doing a reggae to the music of the wind "

There’s this leafless tree amidst the shadow

(That’s a stupid rhyme for window!)

Trying to push out a teeny-tiny leaf before the winter kicks in

(Well good luck to you!)

It suddenly hit me that a window is a great invention

And that of Gates’ intention

(In naming it Windows I mean)

Watching the glider planes ‘Fly By’

(Sorry Blue that am using one of your titles)

Reckoning that the one closest to the lowest bar of the window - the farthest to my eye

Why am I writing this nonsense is beyond my ken!

(Quoting Sheldon and Penny " this ken has no Barbie to kiss nor do I, a ken to miss!!!)

Continuing,

These ‘Beetles’ trying to buzz into my room

But dropping dead to their doom

(well, it’s called glass, you sucker!)

Musing on how noisy my virtual birthday is

As opposed to how my real one is

(She looks so happy, the virtual me, with a camera in hand and smiling " well, she should know I was once her)

However, any day, you’re only virtual

And am all natural

(LOL, no pun please)

(She’s a pity being only virtual. So help her God! No, wait… help me God… uh oh! Serious help needed! Me! Just me!)

Hoping things to become ‘unflippy’

(Imaginarily listening to Phoebe saying, “Yeah, as if that’s a word”)

You must be thinking I’m feeling bad

No, no, am fine; only a li’l sad

(Silently whispering Chica-Go, Chennai, come

This prayer of mine was probably already answered when it was decided that I move to Chennai’s western parallel!!! Praise God!)

Realizing how nice the phrase, ‘Happy Birthday’ gets

But still through my window, the sun always sets!

(Oh! No, no, no, don’t feel sorry for me. I said that just because my room has a west-facing window)
