Lesson Learned

Lesson Learned

A Poem by JasmineNecole

If I could,
I would go back
Back to a time when things were easy
Back to a time when things made sense
Back to the day when we first said I love you
You said it first and I was so flattered
That moment when my stomach filled with butterflies
And my eyes watered but the tears didn't flow over
Couldn't mess up my make-up

If I could,
I would go back
Back to the moments when we would just cuddle
Back to the moments when we would fall asleep together
Back to when I would lay my head on your chest
Just listening to your heart beat in sync with my own
And each time I would fall asleep you would twitch waking me up again
I didn't mind because I could fall asleep to your heart beat over and over
Everything felt just so peaceful

If I could,
I would go back
I would have made sure every second counted
I would have spent more time with you
I would have never left your side
I would have told you I love you a billion times over
I would have kept you happy
I would have done what was needed to be done
It would have been different it would have been better

But I can't go back,
I can't turn back time
I can't bring you back into my life
I'm not that selfish
I had to let you go
I couldn't allow you to suffer from my actions
I got what I deserved
I can't change the past
So I'll call it a lesson learned

i always believed the true motivation for time machines were not about seeing the future, but going back to past, to our most perfect memory point........ love the poem
