Tree

I was here before everyone else,

Evolution flows through me

I see how living things take form

I see kingdoms and empires fall.

With my body I bore the scar of your past.

I give clean air to all living things.

Most of the time

You all depend on me.

With my branch I build your dreams

With my fruits I fill your hunger

With my leaves I give you shelter

With my roots I protect you from disaster

But even to that

You have not shown gratitude 

to this life giving being.

Love and care is all I am asking.
