In this popularity contest

Of the celebrated life. 

Friend or foe, everything is a blur

Who you trust, no one knows. 

Everyone has personal agenda

Distracting you from truth. 

Always on the run

With the glitter on the one way train

Until you realize the fall is too heavy

Spiraling down into nothingness you hide. 

Take note my friend

To never forget who you are

Before this celebrated life. 

Because only then you will find

The true meaning of life.

A thoughtful view on the celebrity phenomenon, something which has always been with us, but which has been exacerbated to the millionth degree buy modern social media. It seems many people, particularly the young, get caught up in this remorseless webb before realizing its full implications. The last three stanzas especially call attention to celebrity's dangers, but those who confuse attention with love will nevertheless continue to fall victim to them.
