AfricaA Poem by JasmijnAfrica, you are so strong and beautiful. No wonder the sun shines so bright for You
Media plays the wrong card
showing starvation, diseases instability taking advantage of the human heart they don't care about their reliability With my own eyes I have seen more than 'they' will tell cause from everywhere I've been You invaliditate the prejudices so well The kings chose You as their place to sprint, to hunt to grow old with all their beauty, all their grace the best news is the one that never gets told The strength of helping those in need is something You teach them and You succeed Against every obstacle You wanna fight You have never been treated fair My people stole your light My people are proud of what we are thinking we have it all they don't see how strong you are, what you capable of and that's why we will be the first to fall If I could, I'd tell my leaders, stop and take a breath you don't know how to live life simple and pure And I will tell them about the moment we met I'm embarrassed about the history how we stole from you, disgraced you, enslaved you We never had the right to You touched my soul with your wise words You overwhelmed me In all honestly I can say You are the most sincere and real to see One day I will speak to my people and say We have a very special visitor today I will welcome you and I will bend I am truly sorry for everything we did to you Africa, will you be my friend?
