"Bell Ringer"

Episode 5

(The scene begins with the Nathan, Ellie, and Caine walking into the auditorium while having mutual conversation, and Jody’s on the stage but she has a cloth bandage around her head and is writing something on a clipboard)

Nathan:

[to Ellie]

You still look pretty bad.

Ellie:

I’m on the patch I swear.

[lifts up sleeve revealing 8 caffeine patches]

Caine:

Patches...there’s definitely more than one there…[interrupted]

Ellie:

[random and fast]

Coffee. What?

(Caine stops walking and the rest of the cast continues toward the stage)

Caine:

[holds up fist and squints eyes]

One day I’m gonna…

Molly:

[to Caine, softly and innocent]

You’re gonna what?

Caine:

[slowly drops fist and pats Molly’s head]

Shhhh. Shhh. Just go back to sleep…

[walks away]

Molly:

[confused]

Errr, what?

[replays conversation in head]

Wait..WHAT?

[follows after Caine]

(The cast reunites in front of the stage looking at Jody and Ellie is the only one trying to get her attention)

Ellie:

Jody. Jody. Joddy. JOE-DIIIIIiiiiiiii……. Jody. Hey Jo….[interrupted]

Jody:

Stop.

Ellie:

JODY...JA-JA-JODY.

Jody:

[finally looking up from clipboard]

[raspy quiet angry voice]

Wwhhaatt? Do You Want?

Ellie:

When are we gonna start the scene.

(Nathan, Caine and Molly take a big step away from Ellie, afraid of what Jody is going to do.)

Jody:

[mocking]

You.. you wanna start the scene?! DO YA!

Ellie:

[unphased and natural]

Yes. I Do.

Jody:

[angry]

FINE! Why don’t you start the scene whenever you want, I'm done, I QUIT!

Molly:

wait you can't just quit...[interrupted]

Ellie:

[excited]

Wait, so. I get to be in charge?

Caine:

[extremely concerned]

No. no. no. Jody wait…

Jody:

Sure, WHATEVER, I don’t care. I don’t care about anything anymore….thanks to you goblins!

Ellie:

But you have to grant me it. Something that says…[dramatic] “I’M ELLIE DUBLIN...AND IN CHARGE”

(Jody is putting on her jacket and grabbing her keys frustrated, looking for the closest object to give to Ellie so she shuts up. In this case she finds a bellhop bell and throws it at Ellie)

Jody:

[frustrated]

THERE! Now you’re “officially”

In charge. Now Good-bye. For-EVER.

[storms out of auditorium]

Caine:

[falls on knees]

Oh. no. We're all gonna die [grabs hair] it’s too late for us.

(Cuts to an interview of Ellie is is frozen with a smile on her face)

Ellie:

[smiling]

[pause]

Ha.haha..[laugh becomes loud and evil] HAHAH.HAHAHA…FINALLY!....[cuts out]

(camera returns and the cast is still standing in front of the stage and Ellie is now on the stage with the bell.)

Ellie:

[smiling]

Okay. first everyone on stage.

Molly:

[mumbles something]

Ellie:

WHAT?

Molly:

[sad and scared]

I don't wanna.

Ellie:

[begins to furiously ring the bell while shouting over it]

I’M NOT ASKING..[continues to ring bell]..I’M TELLING.

(Molly jumps out of fear then quickly stumbles on stage, followed by a concerned Nathan and an annoyed Caine)

(Ellie stops ringing once everyone is on stage, then she steps off)

Ellie:

Good. Now Molly. Start the scene.

Molly:

Which one?

Ellie:

[holds hand over bell threatening to ring it]

Molly:

Okay just don’t ring the bell!. Please.

(Cuts to an interview of Caine)

Caine:

[trying to call Jody]

PLEASE...PICK UP THE PHONE….

(In the distance we hear Ellie)

Ellie:

Who’s that?!? Who are you trying to call?

Caine:

Nothing..I mean none..[hides phone behind back]..I mean bye…[storms past Ellie and runs back into the auditorium]

(Back in the auditorium)

Ellie:

Now like I was trying to say...start the scene, and if I ring the bell you have to re-start it. Kapeesh?!?!

Molly:

I have a question.

Ellie:

Great since we're all clear..Molly start us off.

Molly:

Uggh. okay..you there I heard you’re selling fruit..

Caine:

[annoyed mono-tone]

We need some or our family will…[interupted by bell ringing]

Ellie:

Do it again!

Caine:

[takes deep breath and hold it angry]

We need some or…[bell ringing]

Ellie:

Try again.

Caine:

WE NEED…[bell ring]

WE NEED SOME OR..[bell ring]

[super fast]

WE NEED SOME OR OUR FAMILY WILL…..[Bell ring]

[turns to Ellie]

If you don’t stop ringing…[interrupted by continuous bell ring]

Ellie:

[ringing the bell]

Jody put ME in charge.

Caine:

[points at Ellie, screaming]

One day I’ll get you! And it will look like a bloody accident too.

Ellie:

[instantly stops ringing]

Continue.

(Nathan continues the scene)

Nathan:

Yes of course...fruit I sell...however.

Molly:

[scared to speak, due to the bell]

Please sir we need some…[interrupted by soft bell ring from out of frame]

(Molly begins to breakdown, and lays down on the stage floor weeping softly)

Molly:

[soft weeping]

Someone kill the demon.

Caine:

[to Ellie]

What was that?

Ellie:

Nothing..I just..I just..

Caine:

You rung the bell didn’t you.

YOU RUNG THE BELL.

Nathan:

[semi-confident]

She.. she did! Made Molly cry too.

Molly:

She just kept ringing it...over and over...it wouldn’t stop.

Caine:

[slowly approaching Ellie]

What did I say would happen if you rung that bell.

Ellie:

[slowly standing up and backing away]

Caine, can’t we just talk about this...Maybe we can…[sprints in opposite direction as fast as possible]

Molly:

[standing up pointing in the direction Ellie ran]

GET HERRR!!!

(Caine runs after Ellie, and Molly follows, leaving the auditorium. And Nathan is left on stage)

(cuts to an interview of Nathan)

Nathan:

[comparing with a mime of a hand scale]

[lifts up left hand]

Murder is wrong.

[lifts up right hand]

The death of Ellie once and for all.

[drops both hands]

That is a hard choice to make, except for Caine, she gonna kill em.

(The camera returns behind Caine who is chasing Ellie down the stairs)

Caine:

Stop running.

(Ellie gets to the bottom of the stairs and looks back while running, screaming at Caine)

Ellie:

[looking back]

The day I stop running is the day…[runs right into wall and falls down]

(Caine quickly runs up to her semi-unconscious body and picks up the bell.)

Caine:

Never again!

[opens theatre door and chucks bell outside]

(Molly quickly catches up, and without hesitation continues running, and runs outside. The camera following her)

(She runs to the bell and begins jumping on it furiously, and stomping it)

Molly:

Stop ringing...STOP RINGING.

(Molly then picks up a large rock, beside the black metal fence, and begins to smash the bell)

Molly:

I said stop ringing...SO STOP RINGING!!!

(The bell eventually stops ringing because it is dented and smashed up, but Molly keeps hitting it)

(Nathan runs outside and grabs her shoulders, shaking her)

Nathan:

Molly. MOLLY!..IT’S OVER…[Molly eventually stands up and drops the rock]

It’s all over.

(Molly and Nathan walk back inside and Caine is sitting on the bottom step inside, and Ellie is nowhere to be scene.)

Molly:

Is the demon dead?

Caine:

[standing up]

Yep, the demon's dead.

(The cast begins to walk up the steps together)

Molly:

Good. That’s good.

(The cast then walks upstairs out of frame and the camera turns to a closet door inside, and the door handle is moving. And Ellie's voice is heard from the other side of the door)

Ellie:

[confused and dizzy]

Caine?...why isn’t the door opening...and where’d my bell go...Hello..guys.

[the camera begins to back away from the door and Ellies voice becomes more distant]

Guys... Is anyone there...guys…

(scene fades out)
